When I first started Retaaza in 2020, I could neve When I first started Retaaza in 2020, I could never have predicted that we would be part of an event hosted by The White House discussing food policy impacting future generations. Food Tank, with the Biden-Harris National Strategy on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health, hosted the event at Emory University, and I was honored to speak on a panel alongside leaders from around the industry. We discussed the power that procurement has on how our citizens eat and where our food comes from. We explored avenues to combat food waste, support Georgia farmers, and engage large corporations in building a sustainable food system. While @retaazaco is just one piece of the puzzle, I firmly believe that with collaborative efforts, like these discussions fostered by Food Tank, we are on the path to realizing the food system we aspire to for future generations. It was inspiring to be with other leaders in the room, some of whom we have collaborated with in the past, are working alongside currently, and hope to work with in the future. Thank you to @foodtank, @whitehouse, @emoryuniversity, @spelman_college, @cdcfound, @bonappetitmgt, and numerous others for their dedication and contributions in making these discussions possible.
